Village police found three active warrants when they stopped James Johnson on a report of a suspicious trespasser outside a home on North Maple Avenue on Saturday, Police Chief Jacqueline Lutchke said Wednesday.

Johnson, of Annapolis, then "provided false information" about his identity and was taken into custody, she said.

Police processed him at headquarters, gave Johnson a court date to answer a summons charging him with hindering apprehension, then turned him over to their Morris Plains colleagues for one of the warrants.
