Police were being called on the bum-check report when the employee locked the door at closing time at the TD Bank on Franklin Avenue around 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon.

That’s when the man punched her, took her keys and let himself out, Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The employee declined medical attention, he said.

Witnesses described the getaway car as a gray Volkswagen Jetta with Georgia license plates.

Authorities were reviewing surveillance video and still shots from the bank, Ward told CLIFFVIEW PILOT

immediately following the incident yesterday. They also collected evidence that includes the check, he said.

Ward said the thug will be charged with robbery, among other offenses, because of the assault.

“Any use of force in a theft is a robbery,” the chief explained.
