The man didn’t know who he is and had “no recollection of any events previous” to walking into the hospital’s emergency room last Wednesday night, Detective Forest Lyons said this afternoon.

An anonymous tipster called Ridgewood police after seeing a posting on the department’s Facebook page, leading to the man’s identification.

Physicians said he apparently has “transient global amnesia,” a sudden and temporary episode of memeroy loss that can be caused by epilepsy or a stroke.

Some stricken by TGA know who they are — such as the lead character in the 2000 film “Memento.” In reality, it ordinarily lasts no more than 24 hours.
