Ridgewood PD: Officer Catches Would-Be Bicycle Thief At Train Station

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- A Ridgewood police officer could scarcely believe his eyes as he watched a 38-year-old village man try to cut loose a locked bicycle from a train station fence, authorities said Wednesday.

Officer Raymond Tarino arrested Erik Anderson and brought him to police headquarters, where he was charged with criminal attempt, theft and possession of burglary tools, Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke said.

Anderson was released pending a court hearing.
