Ridgewood motorist surrenders in teen pedestrian hit-and-run

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A Ridgewood driver who police said struck a teenaged pedestrian this morning and then took off later turned himself in and was charged with careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

The 17-year-old Ridgewood victim was taken to The Valley Hospital after being hit just after 7 a.m. at the intersection of Grove Street and South Pleasant Avenue, Detective Chris McDowell said.

He was released from the hospital soon afterward, the detective told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Matthew Cermak, 21, also was released — from police headquarters, with summonses to appear in Ridgewood Municipal Court.
