A traffic signal equipment box and outdoor trash can were demolished when one of the vehicles careened off the roadway and into a nearby park following the 9 p.m. crash at the intersection of North Monroe Street and West Glen Avenue.

Firefighters had to use the “Jaws of Life” to remove a door to get him out.

At least one firefighter ran to the scene while others brought the necessary rescue and first aid equipment.

Ridgewood Fire Chief James Van Goor, who lives nearby, also dashed to the crash scene.

Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel provided lighting and temporary traffic control devices.

One of the drivers received a summons for an undisclosed offense.
