The cyclist was evaluated by members of the Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps and decline treatment following a collision with a Ford Fiesta at the intersection of East Ridgewood and South Maple Avenues around 3:45.
Ridgewood Police, EMS, and EMS First Response Fire Department units all converged on the scene within seconds after being dispatched to the busy intersection in response to several 911 calls reporting the incident.
His bicycle sustained minor damage.
No summonses were immediately issued, although the driver of the vehicle — with New York license plates — appeared shaken.
The incident remained under investigation, police said.
Police Chief John Ward has become proactive, employing police pedestrian decoys — often the chief himself — to catch motorists who don’t yield.
On Thursday, a pregnant mother and her two sons were struck at a Ridgewood intersection.
