Any that are brought must be checked at a special tent.
A K9 unit will join village and county police, among other security measures, along the course, Bergen County Police Lt. James Mullin said.
Besides a vehicle equipped with radiation detection, plainclothes officers carrying portable detectors will mingle along the route.
The cameras, meanwhile, will be provided by SecureWatch 24, a security company with its New Jersey headquarters in Moonachie. Founded by a retired NYPD detective, it monitors cameras at more than 22,000 commercial buildings in the tri-state area and shares images with law enforcement to solve crimes and protect the public.
On Monday, SecureWatch 24 cameras will send images to a “Skywatch” observation post (below).
One of the Northeast’s most respected races, the Ridgewood Run draws hundreds of runners each year, thanks to the work of the North Jersey Masters Track and Field Club.
The race begins at 8:15 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Field, at Maple and Linwood avenues.
