DWI charge for Washington Township man in Ridgewood Mercedes crash

ONLY ON CVP: A Washington Township man was drunk when he backed his Mercedes Benz sedan into a supermarket retaining wall yesterday, Ridgewood police said.

Gerald Kent, 43, was also charged with reckless driving and having an open container of alcohol in the car.

Kent wasn’t injured when he backed the vehicle into a retaining wall in front of the Kings Supermarket on North Maple Avenue around 4:15 p.m.

He was taken away in handcuffs while a tow truck removed the Mercedes, slowing traffic in both directions.
