Downed Hawthorne power line cuts power in Bergen

YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: A downed high-voltage line early this evening ignited a small brush fire, slowed northbound traffic on Route 208 and caused power outages in Glen Rock, Hawthorne and Ridgewood.

The right lane and shoulder of the road were blocked Van Winkle Avenue as PSE&G crews neutralized the downed line and Hawthorne firefighters extinguished the small blaze around 5 p.m.
