“The fear is that this could involve domestic terrorism,” a law enforcement official told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.
Various agents from the FBI, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the Bergen County Bomb Squad and Haz Materials Team, Ridgewood police and Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification were still at 183 Union Street past noon today.

This morning, officer were observed viewing x-rays, presumably of articles still located inside the residence, while investigators from the Prosecutor’s Office were observed placing brown paper bags containing evidence into official vehicles, CLIFFVIEW PILOT correspondent Boyd A. Loving reports.
Bergen County’s top lawmen — Prosecutor John L. Molinelli, Sheriff Michael Saudino and Police Chief/Public Safety Director Brian Higgins all told CLIFFVIEW PILOT they couldn’t comment because of the nature of the investigation. However, Molinelli released a statement later in the afternoon (SEE STORY LINK ABOVE).
Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward would only say that authorities were dealing with a potential public safety threat.
