Ridgewood Constructon Code Chief Anthony Merlino inspected the damage after a crane was used to remove the tree and determined the occupants couldn’t remain there.
Although utility lines weren’t affected, village firefighters had the gas and electricity temporarily shut off.
They and Ridgewood police responded to the 200 block of Oak Street after the tree crashed, severely damaging the sides and back of the house, around noon. They said
19-year-old son Marcos Garciarena was asleep at the time.
