Car rams Ridgewood tree, driver taken to HQ after field test

YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: The 74-year-old driver of a sedan that slammed into a tree in Ridgewood this afternoon was taken into custody after being given a field sobriety test and charged with DWI and failing to maintain a lane, village police said.

The black, four-door Toyota Corolla hit the tree near the intersection of Fairmount and Heights Roads in Ridgewood.

The village driver, who was the only occupant, appeared uninjured.

The Corolla was towed by a flatbed.
