‘Blessing of the Animals’ set in Ridgewood

SHOUT OUT: All beloved creatures great and small will be welcomed at the “Blessing of the Animals” on Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church in Ridgewood — and that includes the stuffed variety.

The 10 a.m. Mass at the Cottage Place church celebrates the Feast of St. Francis.

A brief service will be followed by individual blessings of each animal at the church’s outside altar, which is by the entrance to the nursery school on Franklin Avenue.

If it rains, the event will be moved inside.

Some orphaned dogs and cats who are eligible for adoption from the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge in Oakland will also be there.

Church officials ask that you bring a needed item to donate to the refuse (see below).

Refreshments will be served.
