George D. Nuttycombe, 72, Ridgewood Resident

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. – George D. Nuttycombe, of Ridgewood, died Friday, April 15. He was 72.

Born in Morenci, Ariz., and raised in Chloride and Tucson, Ariz., he resided in New York City prior to settling in Ridgewood 32 years ago. 

He earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Arizona and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Ridgewood Baseball Association and was a coach for many years. He also was a troop leader of the Boy Scouts of America. An avid baseball fan of the New York Yankees, he enjoyed reading, music and gardening. Prior to retiring, he was employed as an IT professional with Bank of America for 26 years.

He was the husband of Kathleen (Furka) Nuttycombe; father of Matthew Nuttycombe and his wife, Karen, and Taylor Nuttycombe and his wife, Jessica; grandfather of Azalea Nuttycombe; brother of Nick Nuttycombe and his wife, Anna, and the late Louis and Ronald Nuttycombe; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial gathering from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, May 7 at the family’s residence. Arrangements are being handled by Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, Fair Lawn.
