She was unanimously voted in by her peers.
"This council is well positioned to handle the many challenges ahead," Knudsen said. "Our collective experience will serve the village well as we move forward into the future."
Michael Sedon is the new deputy mayor, according to Village Deputy Clerk Donna Jackson.
Like Knudsen, Sedon is in the middle of a four-year term on the five-member governing body.
Three new council members—Ramon Hache, Jeffrey Voigt, and Bernadette Walsh—also were sworn to office.
“We have a very interesting and busy four years ahead of us,” Hache said. “The town has been dealing with a lot of very important issues and they’re not easy. They will require a high degree of compromise and cooperation.”
The most high-profile issues facing the village include resolving the parking crunch throughout the village; minimizing the impact of high-density housing; and dealing with the Valley Hospital expansion, which will double its size.
