Wind gusts knocked a tractor-trailer from one side of the George Washington Bridge's upper level to the other, closing both sides for hours as emergency workers battled downpours to right the rig.
The Port Authority banned trucks from the bridge until 7 a.m.
In in Dumont, a CSX freight train struck a downed tree, closing two crossings for hours.
Downed trees also closed several roads in both counties.
A flood advisory remained in effect until 11 a.m. in parts of Bergen and Passaic counties.
Recorded rainfall included 3.06 inches in Hawthorne, 2.76 inches in Ramsey and 1.3 inches in Bergenfield, according to North Jersey Weather Observers.
Wind gusts reportedly hit nearly 60 miles per hour in some areas, they said.
Temperatures accelerated, as well, moving into the high 50s.
They were expected to dip below freezing Thursday night.
