The child has what is known as Salmonella Paratyphi B variant L(+) tartrate(+), a strain that epidemiologists were able to trace back to the tainted sandwich spread. The child was not hospitalized, NJ.com reports.
The U.S. Center for Disease Control meanwhile is recommending that anybody who has a spread from the brand JEM Raw Organics, LLC — the maker of the tainted spread — dispose of it immediately. The FDA says the spread has been responsible for 11 illnesses in nine states dating back to July.
