Wang has more than 12 years of experience in his specialty and was recently appointed president of the Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists.

“Adding pediatric psychiatry services to Valley Medical Group’s comprehensive services opens up a whole new pathway for providing the finest health care for children and adolescents of all ages,” Frank P. Manginello, M.D., Chair of Children’s Services for Valley Medical Group said in a statement. “Providing these services, in close collaboration with our patients’ pediatricians, other primary care providers, and our team at the Valley Center for Child Development, will enable us to treat behavioral health issues within the framework of each patient’s comprehensive medical care.”

Wang diagnoses and treats children ages 6 to young adulthood with depression and other mood disorders, anxiety, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, eating disorders, and other behavioral health issues.

He uses a holistic family approach to treating his patients, which integrates psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and parent work. He emphasizes the development of emotional health and resilience.

“I enjoy getting to know each child and family and helping them in their growth and approach to wellness,” Wang said. “My goals with patients are to teach and reduce the stigma that sometimes is associated with emotional or mental health issues, and to empower individuals to identify and achieve meaningful success in their lives.”

Wang graduated magna cum laude from an accelerated undergraduate/medical doctorate program at Drew University and UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School.

He completed his adult general psychiatry residency at New York Medical College, a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at NYU Medical Center’s New York Child Study Center, and a program in child and adolescent psychodynamic psychotherapy at NYU’s Psychoanalytic Institute.

Prior to coming to Valley, Wang was Regional Medical Director/Northeast for the Renfrew Center and a founding partner of Hudson Psychiatric Associates in Hoboken.
