Jersey Women Strong, founded in 2011 by Waldwick's Dana White, has raised more than $6,300 to directly purchase and deliver 100 Thanksgiving Day turkeys to Center for Hope and Safety families who have moved from the emergency shelter to transitional housing.

The group brought the turkeys to CHS, formerly Shelter Our Sisters, on Tuesday.

Last year, the running group raised more than $4,000 for the Center for Hope. It was ironically the same year the organization's benefactor was unable to provide turkeys for Thanksgiving.

"We work out together, we train together, we race together," said White, whose athletes span all levels and run together several times a week at the Ridgewood Duck Pond.

"But we also go out and make a difference in the community at the same time."
