Ridgewood Residents Can Learn To Ride Horses With Ponyshare Program

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- Ridgewood Parks and Recreation will bring back the PonyShare program starting on Wednesday, April 20.

The program includes two classes: The Petite Equestrian Program (PEP) for ages 3-5 and the Pony Grooming and Riding Program (PRGP)for ages 6-12.

The PEP participants learn safety on and around the ponies, grooming, basic riding skills, and other primary horsemanship skills including mounting, dismounting, holding the reins and more. 

PRGP will teach safety on and around horses, basic anatomy, equine senses and body language, grooming, the tack and harness, English and Western styles, barn management and careers in the industry.

Classes will be held on Wednesdays: April 20, April 27, May 4, May 11 and May 18 at the Stable. 

PEP classes will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and costs $275. PRGP classes will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and costs $300.

Registration opens on April 1 and can be completed online via the Ridgewood Community Pass
