The exhibit runs through Nov. 29 and a portion of the proceeds from gallery sales benefit the Valley Hospital Auxiliary.
Mancuso-Englander started a second career as an Impressionist-style painter three years ago.
She studied under artist John P. Osborne at the Ridgewood Art Institute. Osborne had been her art teacher at Indian Hills High School in Oakland and she followed his work over the years. In her first class she learned how to mix paints and created a still life of a white vase.
“I’d found a moment of peace and focus that allowed it to happen,” she said.
Mancuso-Englander’s body of work totals more than 300 paintings. Her patients enjoy a different exhibit every time they come for an appointment. She’s also had two shows at local libraries.
To Mancuso-Englander, who lives in North Haledon, painting is a natural art for a dentist to pursue.
“For so many years as a dentist I have stared at lines and angles and curves and I have tried to recreate nature with the materials I use,” she said. “I can paint a realistic representation because I’ve trained my eye and my hand to relate those lines and shapes and colors.”
Frech is a painter, printmaker, and art educator who has exhibited throughout the United States and Europe. After teaching secondary school art, she studied at the Art Center of Northern New Jersey, the Art Student's League NYC, and the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts.
In addition, she lived in Paris, France for three years continuing her art education at L'Atelier Vaudou and Santa Reparata Studio in Florence, Italy.
She has exhibited her art in more than100 shows and has been recipient of numerous awards, including a grand prize at the NJ Center for Visual Art and the Grumbacher Gold Medallion Award at the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club juried exhibit at the National Arts Club, NYC.
She exhibits regularly in SOHO galleries, as well as the famous international "Salon des Independants" at the Grand Palais in Paris.
The Valley Hospital Gallery is located adjacent to the Gift Shop and Kurth Cottage Café.
