Shumi will open at 70 East Ridgewood Avenue on June 29, Chris De Young, of Ridgewood, a friend of the chefs, told Daily Voice.
De Young said he had lunch at the Somerville restaurant last year and was “awed by the freshness and quality.”
“Ridgewood is going to be treated to sushi that has garnered a cult-like following,” he said.
The Somerville location has received rave reviews on Yelp.
“If you want authentic Japanese style sushi of the highest quality fish and the most intentional preparation, Shumi is your place,” one reviewer wrote.
“The best sushi in New Jersey. Period,” another person wrote.
