The owner of a luxury SUV that was stolen from a train station in Fairfield County, CT in 2016 likely thought he'd never see it again.
Fate intervened, however -- or, rather, the Saddle River Police Department.
Officers Greg Bulick and Det. Michael Cooper stopped the 2015 Land Rover on northbound Route 17 for having tinted windows, among other violations, Police Chief Jason Cosgriff said.
They quickly noticed some inconsistencies, he said.
The vehicle had a temporary Georgia license plate for a 2019 Range Rover, for one thing, the chief said Wednesday, Aug. 30.

An out-of-state suspect was caught with crack and several key fobs to other vehicles after he stopped to take a snooze in a stolen SUV in Ho-Ho-Kus, authorities said.
A call of a suspicious vehicle brought Saddle River, borough and Washington Township police to Paddock Road near Werimus Road shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, Ho-Ho-Kus Police Capt. Greg McBain said.

Three Bergen County robbers severely beat a young Emerson man, taking a pair of $600 sneakers and a vape cartridge, in a violent pre-planned attack, authorities charged.
Bergenfield residents Jacob Inglis, 19, and Colin Murphy, 18, and Cameron Schneid, 20, of New Milford were each seized at their homes early Wednesday, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella confirmed.
