Officer Hit By Bottle Thrown By Attendee Of Party With Underage Drinkers In Hasbrouck Heights
A Hasbrouck Heights police officer was struck by a bottle thrown through the open window of a patrol car while approaching a group of 75 mostly underage attendees of an illegal drinking party at a local home, authorities said. Although the officer escaped serious injury, whoever threw the bottle will be prosecuted aggressively, Hasbrouck Heights Police Chief Joseph Rinke said. Driver Of Van In Route 46 Rollover Crash Charged With DWI
The driver of a van that crashed on a Route 46 overpass on Wednesday was taken to the hospital in police custody, authorities said. Frankie Harrison, 63, was charged with DWI and careless driving after the 11:45 a.m. June 7 rollover on the westbound highway near the exit ramp for southbound Route 17, Hasbrouck Heights Police Lt. John Behr said. Borough firefighters were assisted by their Wood-Ridge colleagues in stabilizing the Econoline van and extricating Harrison, the lieutenant said. Pedestrian Hit By Tractor-Trailer On Route 17
A 47-year-old Bogota man was hospitalized after being struck by a tractor-trailer on southbound Route 17 in Hackensack, authorities said. It was shortly after 11:30 p.m. Monday, May 15, when Hasbrouck Heights police responded to the incident at their border, Lt. John Behr said. They found the pedestrian alert and conscious in a passenger vehicle that was pulled over on the shoulder, the lieutenant said. Flames rolled across the ceiling and smoke filled the home as Hasbrouck Heights Police Officer Christopher Connors dashed upstairs and carried a 65-year-old woman in a wheelchair to safety on Monday. The two-alarm fire broke out in the kitchen and quickly spread to the second floor of the Baldwin Terrace home shortly before 5 p.m. An 84-year-old family member met Connors as he arrived and pointed him to the trapped woman on the second floor, Hasbrouck Heights Police Sgt.
