Hasbrouck Heights Voters Approve $6.7 Million In School Upgrades

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. — Voters Tuesday night approved a $6.7 referendum for heating and ventilation improvements to Hasbrouck Heights schools by a margin of more than 125 votes.

"I'm very excited and proud that our community came together to get this done," Board of Education President Joe Samperi told Daily Voice. "Anytime you talk about a potential increase in taxes it is not easy, but people recognized the need and the opportunity.”

The district will issue bonds for $4.4. million towards the upgrades, with an additional $2.3 million coming from the state Department of education through a Regular Operating District grant.

The work on Lincoln and Euclid Elementary Schools and Hasbrouck Heights Junior/Senior High School will take place during the summer of 2017, Samperi said.
