Wood-Ridge police show what happens when you don’t return a rented vehicle

EXCLUSIVE: Here’s what happens when you abandon a rental: On Saturday, Wood-Ridge police received a report that a U-Haul van had been left on a borough street.

Inside, officers found a driver’s license and court papers belonging to a New York City man. They then discovered that the van was rented several weeks ago but not returned.

So they contacted Christopher Morris of New York City and asked him to come to headquarters, Detective Joseph Rutigliano Jr. told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. Then they issued him a summons for theft.

The van was returned to U-Haul, Rutigliano said.
