Union City 6-month-old killed by falling branch at Central Park Zoo

Hug your children a little tighter. In a horror beyond comprehension, a 6-month-old girl from Union City was killed and her mother injured when a tree branch fell on them at the Central Park Zoo.

Baby Gianna

Karla Delgallo, 33, was holding Gianna Ricciutti in front of the sea lion exhibit as her husband took a photograph when the branch fell around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Both were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where Gianna was pronounced dead. Delgallo was listed in stable condition, the NYPD said.
