Sulphuric acid spill cancels Back to School Night at Hasbrouck Heights High school

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: “Back to School Night” at Hasbrouck Heights High School was cancelled tonight after a sulphuric acid spill was discovered in a science lab.

The teacher  opened the cabinet this afternoon and found the spill, Detective Michael Colaneri told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Hasbrouck Heights police were called and immediately evacuated the building. Bergen County’s Hazardous Materials Unit and borough firefighters also responded.

No injuries were reported, Colaneri said.

“Back to School Night” at the high school originally was scheduled from 6-7 p.m. today. The Middle School is having its night tomorrow.

The high school was expected to reopen tomorrow morning.
