Also performing will be The Past Masters, one of North Jersey’s most popular, versatile and skilled cover bands, and Hawk.
“Shep,” who was 50 when he died of cancer in April 2009, worked with several popular artists – among them, Billy Joel, Keith Richards, Miles Davis, and Sting — while with major labels such as Atlantic Records, Electric Lady, and A&R Recording.
He was also a founding member, played bass and sang in the the North Bergen-based band Peyote, which featured his wife of more than 20 years, Kathy, co-founder George Haviland and Marty Mandell, Paul Herscheidt and Robert Standish. Last year, the first Shepstock drew a sizable, enthusiastic crowd to hear The Past Masters (also with deep North Bergen roots), Hawk and the first reunion of Peyote.
Tickets for this year’s Shepstock are $15, with all proceeds going to The Best Answer for Cancer Foundation, a 501c3 that trains doctors in – and helps patients afford — alternative cancer treatments, including Insulin Potentiation Therapy.
A silent auction opn eBay to benefit the charity begins at 9 p.m. Sunday and closes 9 p.m. the night of the show (winners need not be there). Links to the items will be up tonight. Go to: www.facebook/shepstock.com
Direct donations can be made via: www.bestanswerforcancer.org
“We are trying something a little different this year by posting the items on Ebay, rather than taking up a table at the venue the night of the event,” Kathy Sheppard told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “This way, anyone can bid without being present at the event.”
Shepstock itself is at 8 p.m. Sept. 7. Doors open at 7 and dinner seating begins at 7:30.
