A joint investigation by Saddle Brook and Hasbrouck Heights detectives led township police to the North Sixth Street apartment of Juan R. Perez, Deputy Chief Robert White said.

Sgt. Thomas Johnson, who obtained the search warrant, led a strike force of officers from the two departments, along with their colleagues from Elmwood Park and Garfield, during last night’s raid, White said.

Police seized several ounces of marijuana and $3,850 in cash, he said.

Perez posted $5,000 bail and was released pending an initial Municipal Court appearance next Tuesday on charges of marijuana possession with the intent to distribute the drug and possessino of drug paraphernalia  — a scale, a food saver for sealing bags, a grinder and a container with marijuana residue, the deputy chief said.

“Persistence and teamwork between agencies paid off,” White said. “I hope this sends a clear message to others who are illegally selling drugs that you will eventually get caught and suffer the consequences.”
