Officer Brad Gilmore pulled over the Jeep Grand Cherokee on the eastbound highway near Grand Avenue in Ridgefield just after 3 a.m. Monday, Lt. Joseph Rella said.
While talking with the driver, Gilmore spotted drug paraphernalia in plain view -- after which he found a metal grinder, a bottle more than a dozen Oxycodone pills and a small amount of marijuana, he said.
Looking closer, the officer discovered two aftermarket wires that opened the trunk compartment.
Arrested were the driver, Alejandro Gomez, 26, of Newark and his passenger, 27-year-old Raul J. Disla-Almanzar of Perth Amboy.
Both were being held on $100,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with possession of cocaine and Oxycodone with the intent to distribute both, among other drug offenses.
