Officers alerted by a Chestnut Avenue caller at 1:44 a.m. Wednesday said they retrieved proceeds from a resident’s lawn from two vehicle burglaries while taking Nelson M. Castellon into custody.
The 5-foot-7-inch, 350-pound Castellon apparently got into the open cars by testing doors along the darkened street, Police Chief John C. Burke said.
The chief advised owners to remove valuables and lock their vehicles — even if it’s in their home driveways — when parking them for the night.
Car hoppers “will brazenly enter private property and walk up and down all of the driveways on any given street,” he said.
