Police made the discovery after becoming concerned over a 20-page letter the emotionally troubled man gave them when he walked into headquarters, Detective Joseph Rutigliano Jr. told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

After taking him to Bergen Regional Medical Center for an evaluation, they said, they obtained a search warrant and found:

4 handguns;
3 rifles;
a shotgun;
a crossbow;
a compound bow;
2 long bows;
30 arrows;
2 tomahawks
several throwing knives;
a knife throwing stick;
7 spears;
more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition, including hollow-point rounds.

Police are investigating.

Meanwhile, “the guns are currently in our possession for safe keeping,” Rutigliano said.
