Police: Motorcylist drives through crash area with no license, registration, insurance — or tags

EXCLUSIVE: Wood-Ridge police were busy with a crash on Route 17 that sent both drivers to the hospital when they grabbed a Garfield man who they said tried to drive his motorcycle through the closed stretch of highway.

As if that weren’t enough, they said, cyclist Randy Focarino had no license (his was suspended), his motorcycle wasn’t registered and he didn’t have insurance.

The bike didn’t have license plates, either, Detective Joseph Rutigliano Jr. told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Officers issued Focarino several summonses — for careless driving and failing to stop for an emergency vehicle, among others — and impounded the motorcycle, he said.

Once the crash scene was cleared Wednesday afternoon, the officers opened the highway — and a second accident occurred moments later involving a car and a tractor trailer. No one was injured in that one.
