Police Carry Woman, 79, To Safety In Hasbrouck Heights Apartment Fire

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. -- A 79-year-old downstairs neighbor who has difficulty getting around was evaluated for smoke inhalation but refused medical attention in a Hasbrouck Heights apartment fire Friday night, authorities told Daily Voice.

"The police did a great job getting her out," a family member told Daily Voice.

The third-floor Terrace Avenue fire broke out just before 6 p.m and was under control in less than a half-hour.

The woman carried out by police lives a floor below the fire, Detective Lt. Michael Colaneri told Daily Voice.
