Officer Robert Littlejohn Jr. was checking the parking area of the interstate park just after 10 p.m. when he “detected an odor of raw marijuana” coming from a Saab parked there last Wednesday night, Acting PIPD Chief Michael Coppola said.

The driver, 22-year-old Ayhan Eren, got out and approached the officer, who ordered him back into the car while he summoned backup, Coppola said.

After Detective Jeffery Kimbro arrived with Officers Frankie Garrett, Joseph Villone, and Mark Torsiello, Littlejohn obtained Eren’s consent to search the vehicle, the chief said.

The officer found more than 112.5 grams of marijuana, 313 small ziplock-style bags (21 of them filled with pot), two scales and a metal grinder — all with pot residue on them — along with a glass pipe and a pack of rolling papers, Coppola said.

Eren posted $29,500 bail and was released. Charges include possession of pot and drug paraphernalia.

Two people who were with him were released at the scene without charges, the chief said.
