Julian A. Diaz, a 19-year-old Union City native, refused at first to have his car searched after an unmistakably strong order drew Moonachie Officer Migliorino’s attention, the chief said.

Once the officer explained that he’d have to wait until police could obtain a search warrant, Diaz complied, pulling out three bags of pot from the console, Maguire said.

A search turned up more pot and paraphernalia, he said.

Police charged Diaz with drug possession and distribution, while also handing him five motor vehicle summonses, Maguire told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. He was then released pending an unspecified Municipal Court date.

Police let Diaz’s female passenger, a college student from Ridgefield Park who works as a Hudson County restaurant hostess, take the vehicle. She wasn’t charged, the chief said.
