Thanks to evidence found at the Ralph H. Hall VFW Post 5561 on West Shore Avenue after the 2 a.m. break-in, borough investigators developed 30-year-old Christopher Huston as a suspect, Police Chief John C. Burke told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.
Detective Capt. James Sepp and Detective Sgt. Jonathan Misskerg arrested Huston at his home yesterday, assisted by their Lodi colleagues, after finding evidence there tying him to the break-in, Burke said.
Huston, who has a criminal record extending back more than a decade — on charges including trespassing, burglary, theft and robbery — was being held on $25,000 bail.
He also had various outstanding warrants and charges from Elmwood Park, Wood-Ridge, Passaic and Paterson.
