Cristina Sidoti, 39, had been free since last January on $20,000 bail that she posted a week after being arrested in Old Tappan. A bail reduction hearing brought the amount down from $50,000.
She was back in the county lockup late Thursday afternoon, this time on $35,000 bail, after Little Ferry Detectives Ronald Klein, Jr., Sam Aguilar and Ronald Callahan obtained an arrest warrant charging her with burglarizing a car on Gertz Avenue this past Monday.
Sidoti, who was reportedly seen testing door handles on cars, told a resident who caught her that her daughter owed her money, Police Chief Ralph Verdi told Daily Voice. The resident gave her $20 before the daughter came home and caught her in the lie, he said.
Police in Carlstadt and Old Tappan previously charged Sidoti with walking into people's homes and rifling through their cars -- as well as with stealing and using others' credit cards.
