In the incident reported yesterday, two young girls told police they were walking on Hillside Avenue at the intersection of Wood Terrace around 4:30 p.m. when a light blue, 4-door, older model vehicle with New Jersey license plates pulled up.
The driver first asked for directions, then “made a very inappropriate sexual comment to them,” Rowe told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The girls told police they immediately walked away and the man drove off.
They described him as white, in his 50s, with all-white facial hair.
Two more girls today reported that they were approached by the same man around the same time at the intersection of Broad Avenue and Summit.
As in the first report, the girls said he asked for directions and then “yelled inappropriate sexual comments,” Rowe said.
The described his light blue vehicle as an SUV similar to the one pictured below, he said.
This follows reported incidents this week in Ridgefield Park and Norwood (SEE BELOW).
“Today, in all three schools, we reminded students of safety procedures and precautions when walking to and from school, and when meeting friends for play or sports after school,” Schools Superintendent Joanne Megargee said in a letter to parents today.
Rowe asked that anyone with information that could help the investigation call Leonia PD: (201) 944-0800
