While the thieves were unloading the cold cuts from a Boars Head truck onto a landscraping vehicle, an alert customer at the storage facility got a partial plate number, Police Chief Joseph T. Rutigliano told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Wood-Ridge detectives then painstakingly reviewed hundreds of plate numbers before finding 26-year-old Hector F. Ocampo-Lopez of Elizabeth.

He‘s being held on $100,000 bail at the Union County Jail, charged with various crimes, including conspiring to commit burglary.

Meanwhile, Rutigliano’s troops are looking for the rest of the crew. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Wood-Ridge police at: 201.939.0476.
