“We’re not sure exactly how much we’re going to get,” said Dwane Razzetti, the director of Bergen County’s Office of Emergency Management. “We’re probably not going to get everything we asked for. But there’s going to be a multiple tractor-trailer situation there, and we’ll be handing out everything.”

(NOTE: These will be given to Bergen’s various municipalities, who will then distribute them. Check with your town. The National Guard will bring the supplies directly to Moonachie and Little Ferry residents.)

The supplies could go a long way toward helping those without electricity or gas, Razzetti said during a conference call with local officials.

“We’re trying to keep as many people at home as comfortably and emotionally as we can,” he said.

Good news on that front came from Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli: Crime is down.

Although looting and local burglaries were up the first 48 hours after Sandy, they’ve since subsided, the prosecutor said this afternoon.
