It was first believed that police were looking for a gunman after the rear windshield of an SUV was broken near the Bendix Diner around 1:20 p.m. However, it turns out something may have been hurled at the vehicle, a law enforcement official with knowledge of the incident said.

Route 17 south of Williams Avenue was briefly closed as police pieced together what happened.

The other driver was described as white, about 6 feet tall with a thin build and dark hair. No further description was available.
