This time, however, judges in both Englewood Cliffs and Cliffside Park set bails of $50,000 each for Mario Restivo, 35, who was being held in the Bergen County Jail.
State records show Restivo, of Fort Lee, left the Sheriff’s Office on a disability in December 2010 following an undisclosed accident. A monthly state pension of a little under $6,000 was halted last June, however, following a pair of arrests early last year (Unlike sheriff’s officers, a corrections officer attends a special class and doesn’t go through the police academy).
Fort Lee police picked up Restivo in February on a stalking charge, records show. Edgewater police then arrested him in April on charges of drug possession, harassment and violating a restraining order.
A court hearing has been pending in Cliffside Park for charges of drug possession and being under the influence after police found him passed out in his car in October, Detective Capt. Michael Russo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
This morning, Englewood Cliffs police picked up Restivo for the restraining order violation out of Cliffside Park. He also faces a theft charge in Englewood Cliffs.
This comes after his arrest in Hasbrouck Heights for an unspecified offense on Sunday.
After processing him, Englewood Cliffs police took Restivo to Cliffside Park for processing there. Then it was on to his former place of employment — the county lockup.
