Elmwood Park police nab four more out-of-towners on drug charges

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Four more out-of-towners got pinched by Elmwood Park cops in separate stops while coming through town with drugs yesterday and overnight, Police Chief Michael Foligno said this morning.

Balazs Laszlo, 28, of Ridgefield Park had 30 bags of heroin when he was stopped in the area of Market Street and Legion Place around 3 p.m., the chief said.

Officers found 110 bags of heroin when they stopped Vincent Celentano of River Vale and Shelby Zanotti of Clifton, both 22, six hours later on Locust Street, he said.

The three defendants in both incidents were charged with drug possession and released pending court hearings. Laszlo was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Then, around 2 a.m. today, officers who approached 44-year-old Claudio Almonte of Hawthorne in the parking lot of the Elmwood Park Shopping Center on Broadway charged him with possession of cocaine and DWI, Foligno said. He was released pending a court appearance.
