Melkis Antigua-Cruz, 33, was being held on $500,000 bail, charged with aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment in connection with the Feb. 25 incident.
“The victim recently disclosed to her sister what had taken place and the sister, in turn, told their aunt,” Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this afternoon.
The aunt contacted the Hasbrouck Heights police, who notified Molinelli’s Special Victims Unit. The Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P) was also notified.
A SVU detective interviewed the girl, who provided specific details regarding what had occurred,” the prosecutor said.
Antigua-Cruz, who is single and works as a baker, was scheduled for an initial court appearance this coming Wednesday.
