The mother is now under arrest, charged with child endangerment, after investigators determined she knew not to leave the 1-year-old alone with him.
As previously reported, Yoher Andres Jimenez is charged with murder for causing rib and skull fractures, and possibly holding under water, while babysitting her.
He told CLIFFVIEW PILOT, through a relative, that he wasn’t responsible (See: Father accused of beating 1-year-old says he didn’t do it )
Meanwhile, Jakeline told the Bergen Record that she “never suspected Yopher[sic] Jimenez would harm the child, and that it came as a shock when detectives told her that her boyfriend assaulted the baby.”
Now Jakeline — who had just moved with Yoper from a relative’s house in Hasbrouck Heights to Harding Place in Fairview and was out shopping when her daughter was assaulted — is accused in the killing.
She was arrested this morning at a relative’s house in North Bergen and is being held on $5,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, pending a court appearance at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, according to a news release from Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli.
Victoria remained on life support until April 9. The autopsy “revealed she had suffered numerous rib fractures which were at various stages of healing and a skull fracture,” Molinelli said.
“Additional tests will be performed and the final results of the autopsy are pending. The manner of death has been ruled a homicide,” he said, noting that attempted murder charges against Yoher Jimenez were immediately upgraded.
Investigators have since learned that Jakeline Jimenez “was aware of past abuse of the child at the hands of her boyfriend but left the child in his care anyway.”
