HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. -- Hasbrouck Heights police charged a Moonachie man with stealing a credit card from a gym locker after they said he used it to buy booze.
A 24-Hour Fitness patron told police someone took the credit card Thursday night after swiping his car keys from a locker at the Route 17 facility, Lt. Michael Colaneri Jr told Daily Voice.
Officer Joseph Olivo soon after spotted 21-year-old Christopher Siguenza walking north along the southbound highway after leaving Liquor Master, Coloneri said.
Siguenza, who was carrying two bottles of alcohol, immediately "became argumentantive" with Olivo and other officers, he said.
Police obtained a receipt of a purchase that Siguenza made a short time earlier, then detectives reviewed surveillance footage and identified him, Colaneri said.
Siguenza -- who survived being hit by a car on Route 46 in Teterboro 14 months ago -- was ordered held without bail in the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing, he said.
