Dussealt, a convicted sex offender in North Carolina who wasn’t in either the New Jersey or federal data bases, initially became a target after local cops in Burlington County who went to arrest him on charges of molesting three area boys couldn’t find them.

After a relative expressed concern over Dussealt’s mental state, State Police issued the alert.

New Jersey’s Amber Alert system excluded parental abductions untilo April, when the guidelines were revised. Now, State Police can issue the alert if they think an abducted child is in danger.

North Carolina records show that in 2007, Dusseault was convicted for possession of child pornography. It is unclear why he wasn’t registered under Megan’s Law in New Jersey or included in a nationwide database.
